About Our Lodge

The Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks is built around charitable tenets that emphasize service to the community, support for youth and education, aid for veterans and seniors, and the promotion of American patriotism. These core values guide every lodge’s outreach, encouraging members to organize fund‑raisers, sponsor scholarships, and respond quickly to those in need.

During the 2011 Las Conchas wildfire, the lodge opened its doors as an emergency hub, providing hot meals, coffee, water, toiletries and a place of refuge for responders and evacuees; volunteers helped serve roughly 14,000 meals over the course of a week.

The Lodge makes Easter a centerpiece of its charitable outreach each spring. The lodge organizes an annual Easter Egg Hunt, filling more than 20,000 eggs that are hidden for children at Ashley Pond. The event is coordinated with the Los Alamos Fire Department and other local agencies, turning the egg hunt into a larger family‑friendly day that also showcases public‑safety resources, bicycle‑helmet fittings, a classic air‑medical helicopter on display, and visits from mascots such as Smokey Bear and Sparky the Fire Dog. The lodge creates a safe, festive environment that brings together families, volunteers, and first‑responders. Proceeds and donations collected during the hunt help fund the lodge’s broader youth programs and charitable projects.

Thanksgiving as a major community‑service occasion. Each year the lodge opens its doors for a Community Thanksgiving Dinner that is free to anyone in need, with monetary donations welcomed to help cover the cost of the meal. The menu typically includes smoked turkey, roasted turkey, smoked ham, mashed potatoes, gravy, sweet potatoes, cranberry sauce, green beans and other classic sides.

The lodge’s spacious hall along with a club area is regularly made available for private parties, community gatherings, and charitable events.
